It is important to remember that motor trade road risk policies will only indemnify you on the vehicles that are registered in the uk. All second hand imported vehicles are subject to a full sva test (single vehicle approval), this applies to all vehicles less than 10 years old from the date of manufacture. Your insurance will not be valid until the vehicle has passed.
Also note that when purchasing a vehicle abroad with a view to bringing it back yourself, the said vehicle must be insured in the country you are buying it from (unless you intend to trailer it home). Foreign registered vehicles cannot be covered by uk insurers.
